Steel Track Shoes for Excavators

At Trasteel, we offer a wide range of steel track shoes (also known as pads in Latin America) designed for excavators and bulldozers. Manufactured from high-quality steel, our shoes provide excellent wear resistance, maximizing your machine’s performance under the most demanding conditions.

Our shoes and pads are manufactured and hardened to reach 43–47 RC, ensuring durability and strength in both standard and extreme applications.

We apply strict quality controls to every production batch to ensure our shoes meet the precise tolerances required for the most demanding applications.

Steel Track Shoes (Pads)

Shoes designed to maximize durability and performance on tough terrain

Steel Shoes for Bulldozers

  • Hardened steel: Made from high-performance steel offering superior wear resistance and excellent toughness.
  • Range of sizes: We offer shoes for excavators from 220 mm to 1500 mm wide, and for bulldozers from 22" (560 mm) to 36" (915 mm) wide.
  • Variety of designs: Single, double, and triple grouser shoes for various machine types to ensure perfect adaptation to each application.
  • Quality control: Each production batch undergoes rigorous testing to meet the highest standards of strength and durability.

Available Types of Shoes (Pads)

  • Single grouser shoes: Designed for bulldozers, ideal for high-resistance terrain.
  • Double grouser shoes: Used on heavier machines and loaders for increased stability.
  • Triple grouser shoes: Common on excavators, providing optimal traction and maneuverability.
  • Extreme application shoes: Specially designed for harsh working conditions.
  • Custom shoes: We manufacture made-to-measure solutions, including curved, asymmetrical, beveled, or flat shoes.

Identifying Track Shoe Wear

Recognizing wear on track shoes (pads) is key to preventing major undercarriage damage. Here are some important indicators:

  • Worn grousers: Shoes should be replaced when bolt heads are level with the grousers. If bolts bear the load, the shoes are too worn and may crack.
  • Worn bolts: Bolts wear along with the shoes, and excessive wear can cause structural failure or cracks due to overload.
  • Reduced traction: The lower the grousers, the less traction is transmitted to the ground, decreasing machine efficiency.
  • Worn holes: Loose shoes with worn bolt holes should be replaced immediately to avoid additional chain damage.

Track Shoe Widths

Shoe width is a critical factor affecting both performance and wear:

  • Wider shoes: Reduce ground pressure per cm² but increase wear between pins and bushings, which can shorten chain life.
  • Narrower shoes: Increase ground pressure, improving traction and reducing undercarriage wear, though less suitable for soft terrain.
  • Proper shoe selection: Choosing the right width according to terrain type maximizes durability and performance.

Track Shoe Maintenance

Proper maintenance is essential to ensure optimal shoe performance and prevent premature wear. Key tips include:

  • Regular inspection: Periodically check grouser and bolt wear to prevent major failures.
  • Timely replacement: Replace worn or damaged shoes before they affect other undercarriage components.
  • Track tension: Keep the chain properly tensioned to minimize wear on shoes and other parts.
